My Samsung SSD died and killed my Windows 10 installation. I never had it backed up because I assumed that SSDs do not die as long as you leave a good amount of free space... It was 160gb and around 6 years old. Myself and my girlfriend have recently had a bunch of Samsung phones die. I believe that their products have became a heck of a lot more unreliable in the last 10 years or so (I have a Samsung plasma TV from over ten years ago that works just fine). Take it from me, DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG PRODUCTS!

4:00 Regarding supply and demand: If there are more intel CPU’s available, it might be harder to get intel compatible motherboards. If there are fewer AMD CPU’s available, it might be easier to find AMD compatible motherboards. My advice, if you are working with a budget, only do your own build if you are a patient masochist and plan on specific future upgrades. For entry level, I think prebuilt or custom build is totally the way to go. If you are planning for the long term and upgrades, however, and if you do not mind taking the abuse over a long span of time (meaning a few months to a year to get everything you desire within your budget, which by that time you might be a generation behind in a few components) then you might be ready to do your first self build. At least, this is my experience. Edit: If you have no budget then the sky is the limit. If you work hourly and need to budget, then self build can be a very masochistic undertaking unless you get lucky and find the parts you need at just the right time. Regardless, for self build on a budget, patience is key; do not hesitate to return anything that has been shipped with subpar packing standards (best to get your money back early and wait yet again than regret not doing returns on questionable shipments later on when you’re putting everything together).

Building a high end 10 year future proof gaming rig for under $1000 is super easy. The hard part is trouble shooting when your computer works flawlessly for 10 months and then a Nvidia driver update comes out and your amazing cards running in SLI are now both bricked even after rolling back drivers. Then you buy a new card and it works almost as good as your 2 Old cards for about a year and then an Nvidia update comes out to fix some issues with the bullshit that was the Cyberpunk game...and now when playing other games like World of Warcraft you get constant flickering of effects. Changes settings and it fixes it for a week or two until Nvidia updates again Now while playing games if there is anything on the ground you need to dodge it flickers if you are constantly moving but non existent if you are standing still. My hatred for Nvidia's quality testing of their drivers knows no limit.

PSU and Case will probably be resusable but uhm. If I get a new one I want to do VR so... I am putting that off :D

Was really a fun video, but somehow I wonder if at some point it became "unpopular" to learn about how to built a computer beforehand, by reading articles about it, or at some point reading the manuals while putting it together? When I built my first PC, I had no idea either. And guess what? Internet wasn't an all too common thing. So I had to read magazine after magazine to get a hang of it. But to be quiet fair, the common Idea that building a PC is much easier today is literally nonsense. Given, some things are due to all kinds of safety measures in place today, but the sheer amount of different components, form factors ect. is just overwhelming if you don't have any point to start. And when it comes to setting up motherboards (primarily gaming boards) it has really gone overboard, just by the sheer amount of research you have to invest to set it up correctly. And Windows isn't really helping there either. That OS has become so obnoxiously overloaded with settings and features, not to mention being in an "unfinished state" for the last 10 years, its almost shocking. Maybe you guys should really make a whole series of videos focusing on the main components of a PC, what they are doing and how to build, configure and install the PC afterwards. Like a beginners guide to PC building 101. (Although I'm pretty sure you guys have done some videos like that, at least in part before...)

Im thinking about buying the 3060ti prebuild and only keeping the CPU GPU AND PSU from the new rig, swap everything over and then ill be basically selling a prebuilt with a 1660ti an i7-9700K msi z390 a pro EVGA 750W psu, seagate barracuda only 250GB SSD, 16Gigs of ram (2x8) im thinking i can charge $1,000 for the 1660ti i7-9700K build and that’s a good price, and then ill charge $250 for the CPU MOBO combo i have, that’ll put me at $1,250 and a difference of $450ish to upgrade from a 1660ti to a 3060ti and a i7-9700K to a i9-9900K

You are absolutely dead on about GPU prices, there is so much price gouging going on. I'm sure sales are down because people can't afford the cards. Me... Thought it as time to finally upgrade my desktop. It's a decent system, bit it's a few years old. I've been building and pc gaming for a very long time, but haven't paid attention to prices because I wasn't in the market to build or upgrade. I started off with doing my homework for and comparing graphics cards. Mainly because it's easily the most costly part of a custom pc. I was blown away within just a few minutes of my journey. I already had a desktop replacement laptop, that was handling some semi demanding games. So I realized after some reading and research, that buying an HP Omen laptop with a GeForce RTX 2060 would be the best route. And I was not wrong!!! The laptop handles everything I throw at it, and actually cools very well under heavy workloads. I'm still missing having a powerful desktop, but after realizing that the RTX 2060 itself is going for between $999.00 and $1200.00, I started looking into laptops. I spent almost $1700.00 for the Omen AFTER choosing upgrades. I literally paid about $600.00 for a very well equipped laptop and the rest was what would have been cost for a graphics card. Some of my friends gave me flack for buying a gaming laptop instead of building or upgrading my desktop. That was until they got a chance to play games like Red Dead 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn on my laptop. I have it paired with an ASUS monitor, and we won't talk about how much I soaked into that. I was at sort of an impasse for a bit, because I couldn't decide between HP or ASUS. I've always had very good luck with high end HP laptops, and the model of Omen I got had very good reviews with performance under heavy loads. The selling point though, was good reviews on the twin fan cooling setup. Yes... This is about building desktops and not laptops, and it pains me that I had to make a move to a laptop because of price gouging on GPU cards. I don't think the people charging these prices realize that if the prices were where they should be, they would make bank due to the amount of people who would buy cards at affordable prices. I really felt like I needed to leave this comment after seeing your $500 and change gaming pc build. I decided to look up the 1060 out of curiosity, and was blown away by what the current selling price is. First I thought about how you could build the rig when the cord alone is well over $200, but then realized that maybe you were able to get it before a price hike. On a side note... Nvidia did release a 1060 that was priced as a budget card and it worked great!!! They then released the same card for a high price, but it had a lot more memory. They then marketed the previously released card witch had much less memory, and people thought they buying the newer version at a very good price. The moral to the story? To the people who may not read everything... Read the full specs on what you're buying, because this shill happens even today. So many people pay attention to the model of GPU and don't read on to see it's memory and other specs that may differ. Maybe if every gamer would boycott graphics cards for even 90 days, prices would drop.

We still get our computers custom-built for our client - they’re all business clients and luckily graphics cards aren’t something we need to concern ourselves with. Yes, very few AMD processors are available in the UK with GPUs built in, so we tend to go for intel. Anyway we find it’s cheaper, simpler to maintain and we don’t have to deal with nonstandard parts from companies like dell. We don’t build them ourselves, we get our distro to build them. They’re very good and really good with returns (of which we have had precious few). We’ve had maybe 250 computers built for us over the past few years. The plus point is that we custom build to the customer’s requirements. We tend to deal with small businesses, and never have to supply more than a few at a time.
