Perseverance Rover’s Descent and Touchdown on Mars (Official NASA Video)
NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance mission captured thrilling footage of its rover landing in Mars' Jezero Crater on Feb. 18, 2021. The real footage in this video was captured by several cameras that are part of the rover's entry, descent, and landing suite. The views include a camera looking down from the spacecraft's descent stage (a kind of rocket-powered jet pack that helps fly the rover to its landing site), a camera on the rover looking up at the descent stage, a camera on the top of the aeroshell (a capsule protecting the rover) looking up at that parachute, and a camera on the bottom of the rover looking down at the Martian surface.
The audio embedded in the video comes from the mission control call-outs during entry, descent, and landing.

Do we have any footage of it in space or entering the atmosphere before the chute is deployed? Or is everything covered with a heatshield or the camera in hibernation or something? I want to see as much of this as possible, this little video is such a tease! Looking forward to more, congratulations! It's also rather eerie how similar Mars is to Earth once we get down to seeing the individual rocks on the ground, I'm not looking forward to the day Earth has the same fate.

Oh fantastic!? Hope we discover/ realise how to burn less billions in space or on planets and how to discover humans on earth in need of water, food, clothing, and warmth in the freezing winters. It's so naff that we esteem and treasure the searching for water and life afar, while life under our noses and at our doorsteps is suffering & perishing! Such blindness - is our priorities and lately an ever growing global competition of Inter-Nation-al prides. CALL OURSELVES HUMAN?

Why haven't they told us that Mars has 15 molecules of CO2 in it's atmosphere for every molecule of CO2 in Earth's atmosphere? And Mars average temp is -80F. CO2 isn't doing much to heat Mars. Yes, Mars only receives .43 of Earth's radiant flux from the sun. Still it has 15 times the CO2 density as Earth.
Jakub Frei
Acum 4 ore
What
Plumbus 48
Acum 4 ore
Your point?
Salticus
Acum 4 ore
Mars firstly receives much less sunlight, and while it has a high concentration of CO2, the atmosphere itself is very thin. So the relative amount of CO2 is large, but absolutely its not that much. So there is less sunlight to catch in the first place, and then there isn't much atmosphere to keep the warmth.
Raoul Duke
Acum 4 ore
whats your point tho
