This past Summer I was the only 1 in the theater watching The Karate Kid. The theater near me opened and I couldn't help but go because they were playing so many good 80's movies. The Karate Kid, The Terminator and RoboCop I had to see, and I was alone in the theater every time. I had the only car in the parking lot besides employees. The manager was so happy I was giving them business he let me see Tenet for free right after I saw Bill & Ted: Face the Music.

This show feels like Im watching a Shaw bros martial arts movie in the best possible way...and at first I thought it was just going to be a nostalgia fest, and I am glad I was absolutelt wrong..It never uses nostalgia as a crutch to fall back too but rather a way to move forward..

I have always been a Karate Kid fan, loved the movies, to me Ralph Macchio really stole the screen in those. Its nice to see William Zabka make this series what it is, everyone is great don't get me wrong but if Daniel was the star in the movies then Johnny is the star of the series. Love it!

As a person who practiced martial art, I am really uninterested in the Miyaki dojo part, because I know a dojo like that can never stand a chance against one that practice combat and lifting all the time.

It's crazy to me that... if either Macchio or Zabka aged really badly, or if either of them decided the concept for this show was stupid... we would've never gotten it. Cheers to them taking care of themselves, appreciating the fans, and for crafting something so nostalgic and fresh at the same time.

I love the fact that mr. Miyagi is based off chojun miyagi and the fact they put his actual picture in the miyagi dojo is nice a thing. However, that said there is no crane kick in Goju Ryu the style of karate miyagi actually taught. I learned Goju Ryu in my youth from the direct lineage of karate of sensei miyagi through one of his most well known students which was Gogen Yamaguchi and his student, sensei Malcolm Eguinoa. Miyagi tasked Gogen with teaching Goju Ryu to mainland Japan and he basically brought it to the world. Goju Ryu in it's style is very earthy and very grounded in it's nature. The fight scene between chosen and Danny was a small bit of the movement of Goju Ryu when I watched it. So it was nice to see.
