Christian is really talented and for me her portrayal brought her to life. Not much that I can criticize.

I thought the series was insightful and it was cool to learn more about Selena's life that I don't know before. I think people's expectations for the series is where the criticism is coming from. And there is probably some things that could've been improved. People want to talk about the production or something to knit-pick but for me it wasn't that deep. It was just a biographical series made by Netflix and I'm sure the producers, writers, actors, Netflix, and the Family all did the best with the time, money, and creative control they were given. I finished it in like 3 days I was pretty invested in the story. However I did skip like a couple minutes especially ep. 6 I think simply because of the slow plot. But by the end things really began to pick up and the story starts to take off. I can't wait for part 2.

I think she is a very pretty woman. But she does not remind me of Selena, the series was ok it wasn’t bad . I think it’s ok to feel what ever you want about a person’s acting especially if they are portraying someone else. You can’t force ppl to like it and you can’t force ppl to hate it. Everyone see’s different. Whenever I watch Selena I smile without even realizing it and tht says a lot for a person tht was born in 1999. Like I said Christian is a pretty woman but I’m not impressed but I’m still going to watch part 2.

No can ever duplicate Selena. In one way or another they will always fall short. Selena was a once in a lifetime performer. People have to stop holding these actresses to the same standards they hold Selena in because they'll continually be let down. The story telling is really good in this series in my opinion.

I think Christian did amazing as Selena! It's not about looking 100% like her- because nobody will. it's about embodying her charisma, her soul, her talent, her story- and sharing the story from a point of view that nobody has seen before. The younger generations are just now learning about Selena and the older ones are learning new facts about her. Like Suzette said in an interview - they couldn't tell the whole story in a 2 hour movie. The series focuses on the family & the behind the scenes of some of the greatest performances and songs. The series has a ignited a new passion for Selena's music. I. have been listening to her songs for the past few weeks and it's amazing to know how her spirit still loves on through her wonderful works of art. We love you Selena and thank you for this beautiful cast and crew for this show.

honestly I went into this series hating it and not enjoying it very much HOWEVER when this scene was done.... I quickly fell in love with Christian and the series!! She absolutely killed this role!!! Especially this scene!

I rather watch real Selena footage on youtube. In 5 years they'll make another movie/series about Selena. It's all about making money off her name.

I feel like people that are saying she wasn’t good is because part 1 showed a side of Selena that most people are not aware of. So therefore only the true fans could have input. Most people that are talking crap are not true Selena fans, they probably only seen the movie and only know her English songs. I’m sure Selena wouldn’t want her fans acting so hateful and ignorant. When part 2 comes I know people will actually enjoy Christians portrayal because that’s the era of Selena that most people are aware of,

Listen, the Netflix series is a CASUAL version of who and what Selena is. This is clearly meant for the casual viewers. If you watch Selena’s performances and interviews, it’s literally day and night that the Netflix series is a poor and white-washed impersonation of Selena. Christian is a good person and a solid actor, but she doesn’t match or relate to Selena in any shape or form whether by speaking skills, dancing, performing, singing, personality, or energy. With that being said, the Selena series is a decent watch but highly forgettable and barely memorable or breaking any barriers. All this series will do is simply spread the name “Selena” without actually taking a genuine dive of her artistry and impact of her as a human being, an artist, or as a role model. The truth is, Selena is one of the rare and few talented and inspirational Hispanic (specifically Mexican) artists who have left a legacy. It’s sad that Netflix missed the marked to capitalize that and truly show the viewers who Selena Quintanilla was. This entire series so far can easily fit in one cheesy Netflix movie.

The fact that Christian doesn't look exactly like Selena isn't the problem with the series. It's the sloppy writing, and the way they portrayed Selena as this one-dimensional character. Since the series was produced by her family you'd think they knew her better than anyone else but it feels like they didn't. I honestly got more insight into who Selena really was with Chris Pérez's book.
