I have actually used a Nexus 4, which was made by LG back in 2013; it broke a month after I got it. My mom had an LG G4 and she hated that thing. So yeah, it wasn't ROfilmrs that killed off LG smartphones, but rather them being cumbersome to use for novices and just overall shoddy workmanship just to push the envelope forward in innovation. Still, those LG feature phones from the 2000's were so iconic!

That is so stupid saying that their main line was risky one. Everything what other brand phones has, lg also had and it worked great, except telefoto lens. They just add beside that something new. And that doesn't mean if that new thing didn't work perfect, that standard thing doesn't work good to, becouse they work as great as at other brands. But no, people like you were "oooh look at that stupid vane sensor it doesn't even work.. and you all focused on that rather then on good things like you do with Samsung or other brand. After 2 years i still have perfectly good no scratched lg g7 and people are allways asking me with what i make photos so it is good i guess. And phone is still fast like it was not like my brothers iphone wich was slow as f... after two years. And beside thousands of drops on the flor becouse of short pockets on some tracksuit, it still works great and no damage, like my friends samsung galaxy s10, 20, 20 ultra with cracked back or display.. It was just Lg marketing problem. And you didn't helped them eather, you rather bashing them 3/4 review with focusing on some new things that didn't work so good. Why did LG phones really die? Because reviewers like Marques would hammer them for being "just another boring slab", and then hammer them for trying weird, off the wall crap. The LG G6 was a better phone than what Samsung offered that year. The LG G4 was a better phone than what Samsung offered that year. The G6 got crapped on because that was the second year that Samung went all in on the curved screen, which served no logical purpose whatsoever, but because it was the new hotness, it had to be a better phone, despite the LG having better cameras and better battery life. LG had better sound quality for literally ten years, and reviewers just brushed that aside and was like "yeah, it sounds good, but that's not gonna make it better than this curved screen that you can't put a screen protector on!"

LG exiting the game is everyone's loss. They innovate much like Sony, Steve Job famously stated that he was inspired by Sony, others copy. What happens when the innovators are no more? Food for thought..! Sony - Xperia Z - highest level of water resistance - 2013, First with a 4K HDR OLED display, first 21:9 ratio since adopted by Moto for one; first {Xperia XZ2) with 4K HDR movie recording in a smartphone; Xperia XZ Premium - first phone with super slow motion in a smartphone to name a few. Currently using the Samsung Galaxy 21 Ultra but waiting for the Xperia 1 iii. My first phone was a Sony and I have always appreciated their unique approach. Hopefully, Sony will take something from LG's demise! It is a learning moment....a big loss. Well...I just ordered my last LG phone specifically because of the announcement! After years of enjoying their offerings (G2, G3, V10, V20, V30 and V40), I decided I could give them one more sale. I've had my V40 for 2 1/2 years, and probably wouldn't have upgraded for at least 6 months as I'm still very happy with it, but I just had to grab that last one. They say they will support the higher end phones for 3 more years, so that might even take the V60 to Android 13 or higher. So in 2 of 3 years, I'll have to decide on another brand...almost certainly without expandable storage (love my 512gb microSD) or a standard headphone jack with high end audio. I'm sure I'll get plenty of enjoyment out of my 5G V60 (sans dual screen...lol), and I"ll still have a nice spare V40 in the drawer for emergencies.

I tried to stay loyal to LG, but an utter disregard for software (lack of quality and frequency of updates) drove me away. I loved their hardware designs, but boot looping and general lack of reliability was a deal breaker. You youtuber guys are super harsh on HTC too. And I'm talking out of experience as someone who holds two smartphones one for work and one personal. My personal HTC U12+ is way above the super hyped Samsung phones for example. But the sheer negativity on ROfilm and phone websites in the last 6 years brought the brand to its knees. No marketing trick can survive that, except pouring ridiculous amounts of sponsorship (declared or undeclared) money, and for sure it's almost impossible to beat Samsung and other big Android brands in that game.

LG was the first sprint dual screen color flip phone I owned, got it from RadioShack and the G5 UW camera was the best.. that's the only android phone I owned by them.. traded it in for the nexus 6 because it didn't work with project Fi at the time

I feel that the peak for LG was with the G6 because of the specs and camera. After that, they didn't really bring anything new to the table.

It seems LG never really put thought into how Valuable there phone ideas would be to the Customer..that is why a lot of there ideas were more or less Gimmicks.

So what phone am I going to buy if/when my current LG fails? I've been using LG phones for 5 years, and before that I had an iPhone...they're the only two phone brands I know.

I still miss my LG G2 because I loved the dual camera that I really don't see like that anymore where you can record videos and take pics w/ front and back camera at the same time now dual camera means you just have a front and back camera lol plus they had their own video editor and the journal was one of the best for it's time. I still love that phone til this day(someone stole it😩) the G3 lacked some of the G2 features I loved to me so I took it back and got the Note 4😂

I tried to stay loyal to LG, but an utter disregard for software (lack of quality and frequency of updates) drove me away. I loved their hardware designs, but boot looping and general lack of reliability was a deal breaker. I was hoping, for years, that LG would transform into a hardware-only company and partner with Google for software (or any other company that cared).

Had some in early day , like chocolate , but I am xaiomi mi mix 2s owner and see no reason to upgrade . When it comes to lg , it was good, not as good as Nokia , but both of them died because they failed to keep their own operating systems updated and running , just thinking it's will be cheaper to get androing in ... And in android market they just got lost and died .... I am pretty sure soon blackberry will close their doors ... Because of the same reason ... I mean switch to android

My first phone was an LG Optimus L2 ll it's actually pretty sad to LG leave the smartphone market because changed the smartphone market they invented ultrawide cameras and the LG Stylo series I actually love that series of budget phones it's the end of the era the revolutionary era of LG
