Hello, I can really use your help. I attempted to activate the onboard graphics so I can have three displays. One from on board and two from GPU but i found out my Intel core i5 9400f does not support on board graphics. I would like to get three displays setup since my church has been slowly adjusting to live streams and can use the extra monitors for a better workflow. I can only think of two options now. Get another GPU that can support three displays or get a USB 3.0 to VGA adapter for the additional display and continue to use existing GPU. I do not know which GPU they are using as I am helping from a distance. I do know the computer has a Intel Core i5 9400f CPU and uses a gigabyte H310M M.2 2.0 motherboard. GPU can be PCI Express x16 3.0 but unfortunately the build uses a 300w power supply. I would love your input on a GPU that can run well with three display support but doesn't necessarily need its own power supply. Unless the GPU can work with these specs and being powered. Or if you think a USB 3.0 adapter is enough for the third monitor. My set up is two monitors and one projector. These are the three displays.

You CAN solder on larger vram chips but only reliable on amd cards as you can flash custom bios. Nvidia bios are encrypted and cannot be edited. So for mining you can upgrade 4GB cards to 8GB but you will need custom bios and skills to do the swap.

Someone online has actually replaced the vram on a new 30 series card with a larger vram like the 3090s ram chips. And it worked. The memory shows up in stat grams like gpuz and the card runs I belive it was a 3060 or 3070. However it may not had been stable when all that memory was being utilized of course. But this did show a potential for further possibilities perhaps driver tuning and more places to sniff around to make something like this work in practice.

What about in cases where the SKUs are separated by whether or not a slot is populated. IE, there is space set apart for more vram on a lower tier card that is filled on the higher tiered card that goes unused. If you were able to source the same chip they used in both cases, would that fare any better?

my agp all in wonder pro rage2 came with 4m and a 4m add on card.. that was way back in 1998.. i would share a pic but no way to do that here..

You can download more vram, just rename the file extension. When you download ram it saves as .sram, but if you rename it to .vram your pc sees it as video memory and it totally works. I now have 1TB of vram.

I think its just an engineering issue. I am sure that you could engineer a video card tht uses ddr4 laptop ram, dual channel maybe, and have it user upgradeable. A memory slot does not take up that much space and tech wise it could be done. If APU's video part can use system memory and going dual channel improves performance so much, how much of a leap would it me to something similar on a stand alone card?
